With a combination of high-energy roots music ranging from rockabilly-inspired numbers to toe-tapping reels, Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys provide what can only be described as sheer entertainment.

There’s also the mind-blowing sight of “crazy-legs” Gordie himself, combining surefooted step dancing with superb fiddle-playing.

Hailing from Prince Edward Island, off the Canadian coast, Geordie and the Boys have already graced the stage at Glastonbury, Shrewsbury, Celtic Connections and Womad. They’ve also won what’s called the Galaxie Super Nova Award at the Ottowa Folk Festival for their outstanding, high-energy, performance.

They’re acknowledged as being at the top of today’s vibrant old-time musical revival and have picked up recent awards as Entertainers of the Year, Touring Artists of the Year, and Roots Traditional Group Recording of the Year.

“This band is a real breath of fresh air and fun. Given the generic “roots” label, there are heavy influences of bluegrass, western swing, Celtic and even Scottish country dance music in here. It all adds up to a mighty fine package.” Maverick Magazine, UK
