If you are a Costa regular, then this fab trio will be well known to you. Playing great sets and ceilidhs at many of our previous festivals, Banter bring songs of biting social comment with pop beats, irony and ridiculously danceable tunes!
Banter Ceilidh Band combines the talents of Costa del Folk regular Simon Care (melodeon), Nina Zella (keyboards and vocals) and Tim Walker (drums, percussion, brass and dance calling), and they have been described as the world’s smallest big band.
They are rooted in English traditional music, but incorporate influences from pop, jazz and soul. You’ll hear examples of all of these genres, both in concert and during their daily ceilidhs with caller Simon Loake.
“They play for you, they play with you. The most versatile and interesting band on the scene at the moment. Great rocking ceilidhs, Concert sets with a tinge of soul and jazz in the mix. Three superb musos who are at the top of their game. There's nothing like eighteen months of constant gigging to get a band focused and on the ball. Highly recommended” - Phil Beer, Show Of Hands
