Oysterband

The 5-times BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning outfit that brought passion, power and not a little poetry to folk/roots music have just decided to hang up their travelling shoes after 45 years and retire from touring.  Theirs has been a unique and fiercely independent career. Oysterband still play with the spirit of the punk ceilidh band that roared through people’s lives all those years ago, but the growing depth and sensitivity of their songwriting, coupled with the strength of John Jones’ voice and their remarkable musicianship, have lifted their music in recent years into a richer, more acoustic experience.

Being Oysterband, they mean to enjoy the farewell process.  “Over the decades we’ve made a lot of friends, and we have a lot of people to thank and a lot of people to say goodbye to.  We’re calling it A Long Long Goodbye, if we may quote ourselves.”  More details at https://alonglonggoodbye.live.

And the first step on the goodbye road will be their two concerts at Costa Festival Ibiza this year.
