Here’s a Scottish recipe you might like to try. Take two brothers, Daniel and Martin Gillespie, steeped in the Scottish west coast ceilidh tradition on the Isle of Tiree and add in friends Fraser West and Alec Dalglish, with a background in brass bands, wind instruments and jazz. Mix in some blues, folk and country influences.
Leave to mature for a few years, then whisk in Craig Espie and Jodie Bremaneson, stir in your album producer Alan Scobie and mix with the Glasgow music scene. Add BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist Scott Wood and bake them together in a world tour, taking their high energy, musically expansive set, not just throughout UK and Europe, but also to the USA, Canada and Australia.
Twice winners of the Scottish Traditional Music’s ‘Live Act of the Year’, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music, with a growing fanbase worldwide and with the promise of much more to come.
